How to Find Your Leader! Don’t Get Lost in the Network Marketing Jungle!

In 2003, U.S. total direct selling sales totaled more than $29 billion, or almost 1% of the over $3,397 billion for total U.S. retail sales (U.S. Census Bureau).  With all these opportunities to be your own boss, you might ask,  “Where do I begin?”

First you should check out the business that you are interested in. You should do this by speaking directly with a successful leader in the company.
Besides asking questions about the products and the how much money you can earn, find out who is going to help you with training, marketing, and who will be there for you when you need advice or unexpected help.
Being part of the network marketing society is more about friendship and leadership than many people know. Leaders in the industry did not get that way by accident: some people are born leaders who thrive in the position and apply know-how by experience: They know what to do when a problem arises and exactly how to remedy situations- they are creative thinkers and 95% of the population needs a great leader.
An important point to help you understand, people in network marketing need leadership just like employees have upper management to rely on to make crucial decisions, motivate the team with positive reinforcement, and face each individual at their level to support them raise them up to try to meet their financial goals.
Remember, “Successful people do successful things.” Look at your prospective leaders current situation- do they work the business full time or do they have another job? Are they stable? And really find out, how much do they know about what it takes to succeed in life?, Do they have ALL the professional bases covered such as training, leadership, marketing advice, good communication skills, and even blessings?
Also do you fit in with this power team? Dont go into a MLM Team blind not knowing your upline.
It’s not only leadership that is required but effort on your part to succeed. We know from experience you must have dicipline, a never quit attitude, good time management, and a willingness to learn from the best.

So that you can stand on your own, communication with the best leader you can find is the key to success in network marketing. You must join the team with the best leader you can find, your wealth depends on it.

Small Business ERP – Be Aware of These Things

11310676722_meeting6.jpgFinding the right Small Business ERP for your company
Small Business ERP is a unique category of enterprise software. It typically needs to have all the functionality of large corporate ERP software, but it needs to have as few clicks and screens as possible to ensure that the users are not overburdened with a lot of time spent entering data. The size of the business does not necessarily change the functionality required in the software. Rather, the small company often has a need for higher efficiency since they cannot afford the manpower to maintain the system.
When you look at ERP software, there are three tiers of applications. Tier 1 is large multi-national software solutions, such as Oracle, SAP, and JD Edwards. Tier 2 is the mid-market level. These applications are suitable to businesses in the range of 50M to 250M. This is the sweet spot of the market. Like any bell curve, the mid-market has both the most customers, as well as the most product offerings. The last tier is the Tier 3 offerings which is the small business ERP category. These are systems suitable for 1 person startups to about the $50M level, although some of these products become inefficient if they have more than 20 users on the system. So while they claim to be Small Business ERP offerings, they are for the smallest of companies.
Things to look for in Small Business ERP
When evaluating small business ERP solutions, it is important that you properly screen the potential software candidates to ensure you get a software that fits your business. If you don’t you will run into many different issues.
Here are some tips:
1. Make sure that the small business ERP software you are looking at fits into your niche.
2. Make sure that the data entry is simple and efficient
3. Make sure that the database platform can be managed by you or your staff
4. Look at the support offerings of the small business ERP provider to ensure that it is tailored to your needs
5. Determine that the small business ERP reseller provides enough training to properly get your staff up and running
Let’s discuss these points. First you need to make sure that the software you are looking at fits within the business model or industry that you work within. A retail store should not use a software designed for distributor. See what other customers that the software provider has worked with in the past and ask for specific examples of companies in your industry.
You need to make sure that the users do not become slaves to the system. Make sure that the data entry screens are simple, efficient and do not require a lot of bouncing around to other screens to input simple things such as invoices or purchase orders.
The heart of the system is the database. You need to make sure that the database does not require a full-time system admin to maintain it. It should be designed to be self maintaining and easily managed. Learn a little bit of the technical requirements from the Small Business ERP solution provider. You do not want to be in the situation where you need to bring in a specialized database administrator if later something goes wrong.
Small Business ERP should have support designed for you the small business owner. You should easily be able to call in and immediately speak to a rep for support. You don’t want to have to wait for days to get answers. Be careful of small systems with small support staffs. Especially be wary where the system is developed and maintained by one or two people. Yes, they are also a small business, but it will be a big problem when they are not available to assist you.
Lastly, you and your staff need to have enough training to properly operate the application. Do not skimp on this point. You need more training than you think. In fact, it would be good to plan on training to go live and at least one other training session a month after go-live to answer any questions and resolve any problems from a lack of knowledge. You won’t become experts on the system in a day, so plan on future training sessions.
The future of Small Business ERP
The future of Small Business ERP seems to be one of two paths. There are those systems that will continue to be operating on a small network of computers and do quite well on them, such as Quickbooks or DBA Software. The other path is that of small business ERP companies such as Netsuite, who are leading the charge to bring small business ERP to the cloud. This means that you will have access to the application through a browser and no installed software will exist on your site. You are licensing access to a system that stores your data remotely and operates via an internet connection.
People often are concerned with this model as your data lives somewhere else. The fact of the matter is it is probably safer there than on a computer sitting in your back room. The data center security policies and the high-levels of authentication that are enforced by cloud computing providers truly lock down your data and its accessibility. Whereas your server in your back room is often open to anyone who happens to wonder by. This seems to be riskier. Nonetheless, whichever path you choose, you can be assured that the small business ERP industry is continuing to grow and develop.

Do What You Love & Love What You Do

f_21324499721_business-meeting-large.jpgIt is not easy summing up a life and defining it in one or two pages. Philosophers throughout recorded history from Plato to Descartes to Newton, Hume, Spinoza, Hegel and Mill have found it necessary to write great, long volumes explaining what they believe and how they arrived at their personal truths. Nevertheless, in the next few minutes I am going to try and tell you what I believe in, how I came to believe the way I do, and how these beliefs have affected my life.

In a nutshell, my philosophy comes down to this: Do what you love and love what you do. The first part is easy to understand. Life is too short to spend it doing anything other than what you love. What you love is, perhaps, what you are meant to do in the greater scheme of things. What you love is who you are.

Let me explain the second part–love what you do. Sometimes, try as we will, things do not go according to plan and we find ourselves doing what we must, rather than what we choose. If we become negative we start to take instead of give, draining others and ourselves of life and power. By loving whatever we are doing, and giving it our all, regardless of whether it is of our conscious choosing or not, we remain positive; we remain kind; and we remain capable of caring for ourselves and working toward that ultimate in successful living–doing what we love. Betty Friedan, author of The Feminine Mystique, tells us that “Those who have most fully realized themselves…have done so in the service of a human purpose larger than themselves.- Loving what we do means taking responsibility a step beyond self and into the larger community. Loving what we do takes effort. It does not just happen.

I developed this philosophy out of the experiences and incidents of my life. Years ago I was a computer programmer. I made a lot of money. In fact, at 26 years old, I was making $50,000 a year, working four days a week. What more could I ask? Why wasn’t I happy? The fact is, I never had any interest in computers. I was outwardly successful and inwardly miserable. I wanted to work with people, to do something that was meaningful. Barbara Sher, author of Wishcraft, suggests that “We each have a special talent which we can identify by examining our feelings toward what we do. If we love doing something, that is where our talent lies.- For me this translated into Mommy Mentors Mentors. I founded Mommy Mentors was founded in 2004 as a resource for all women– young and old, single, married or divorced, mother or not –to come to find support, understanding and inspiration. We provide this through a network of partners who share their experiences, strengths and hopes. Mommy Mentors holds certain ideas sacred above all others. These are family, motherhood and friendship. Mommy Mentors’ partners use the power of their own real life experiences to give hope and inspiration to those who need it.

Through Mommy Mentors I will be helping women connect, share and learn from one another. Seeing women make these strides towards empowerment and renewed happiness will bring me satisfaction that is far greater than any computer program ever could.

My philosophy affects every aspect of my life. Today and every day, with my goal of doing what I love in mind, I work at loving what I do. In other areas of my life I also put my philosophy to work. Because I am loving what I do, wherever I am and whoever I am with, I try to be kind, and give generously of my self, and to treat everyone who comes into my life with respect, consideration, kindness and compassion.

If we are to be successful in life we must learn to do what we love, but that is only the beginning. We also have to make an effort to love what we do. Whether life brings us a fast food dinner or a banquet, we have to be grateful for the opportunity to do our best.

Small Business Accounting: How to Choose an Accountant

21310676720_business-man-growth-small.jpgA small business is an enterprise that is usually small scale in terms of number of employees and/or sales revenues. A large majority of the businesses in the United State are small business. These businesses are usually registered as sole proprietor, meaning one individual owns it, or partnership, meaning 2 or more people owns the business.
One of the problems facing a small business is in terms of accounting. With the limitation in funds, some small business accounting is done by the business owner. The entrepreneur is tasked to run the business and at the same time handles the day-to-day accounting requirements of the company. Because of this, the company is often fined by the government for late payment of taxes, late submission of tax documents and at times, non-submission of tax forms. Also, the business can also be fined for erroneous computations of tax dues. The business owner has his/her hands full with running the business that handling the accounting requirements can be turned over to another person.
A business owner can hire an in-house accountant or he/she can outsource the small business accounting work to a CPA firm like Desert Rose Tax & Accounting. An outsourced accountant can sometimes be more beneficial than hiring an employee because it is less expensive to outsource than to hire. Also, the outsourced accountant doesn’t need a designated space while an in-house needs his/her own space in the office.
In choosing an accountant to handle small business accounting for the company, some tips can be useful. Before opening a business, the business owner must have a ready accountant. Since a CPA requires a license before he/she can practice the profession, one has to make sure that he/she has a license. The accountant must have experience in the kind of industry the business is in.
Also in a small business accounting setup, before hiring an outside CPA make sure that one knows how much the accountant charges. Fees charged by CPA firms can vary widely.  It is good practice to compare the accountant fees with industry standards. The accountant must be able to fill the needs of the company. Before hiring an accountant, one has to interview at least 3 or more prospective accountants so one can compare which among the three will best serve the company’s purpose.
In handling the small business accounting needs of the company, the business owner must ask the prospective accountant about other possible services he/she can offer to the company like sales tax and payroll tax reporting services. Some Certified Public Accountants offer business advice to help the enterprise grow.
Also, the accountant best fitted to handle the small business accounting is the CPA whose accounting firm is also small. Accountants who own small firms understand how small businesses are run. They also have the time and resources to share with the business owner. It’s one thing to have a fancy degree in business and another to have practical experience running a small business.  In the event that the business owner sells the business, the accountant must be good enough to discuss with the owner how to go about with the sale so that tax liabilities are minimized.
Prior to signing up an accountant for the small business accounting, the business owner must ask the accountant for client references so that the owner can investigate. One must also make sure that the accountant establishes a business relationship with the owner, meaning the accountant has time to visit the company every now and then rather than just seeing him/her only when it’s tax filing season.

Venture Capital – What Happens After The Due Diligence Process

f_11311083207_business.jpgIf the venture capitalists are interested in your company after completing their due diligence, they will offer a binding term sheet. It will reflect the draft term sheet that has already been agreed to but this one will be a legal contractual agreement. Then the real negotiations start.

There are different types of financing to consider: debt, equity, and mezzanine.

Debt financing is the most objective and is therefore the easiest to negotiate. If you have the assets to support the debt and the income to support the interest payments, the negotiation period will be very short.

Equity financing negotiating is more complicated and revolves around agreeing on valuation and percentage ownership. Discussions usually requires several days.

Mezzanine financing involves a mix of equity, debt, convertible debentures and preferred shares. Negotiating the technical aspects of each so that an agreement can be reached between the investor and your company can be time consuming.

Another dictating factor is the number and variety of financing offers that you receive. It is the intermediary’s role to help you bring more than one offer to the table and assist you in evaluating and negotiating which one is best suited to your company’s needs based on their previous experience.

Venture capital term sheets are time limited. You have to quickly make up your mind if you want to accept or reject the offer. The short time period is in place to prevent you from using one term sheet to solicit new offers from other venture capitalists.

Government small business loans from below $50,000 to over $3 million

01310495272_bussinesmanrestingcopy.jpgGovernment small business loans have come as a big boon to entrepreneurs wanting to kick start small business ventures. And small businesses have been contributing to the growth of the US economy in a large way. The impact is being felt even more now after the worst recession hit us a couple of years ago. There is scope for almost every type of a business venture for which startup loans are required.

Loans for any small business under the sun

And loans are available for small businesses ranging from painting, consulting, pet supplies to running dance studios, appliance repairs, beauty salons and real estate. Even in these tough times, you can avail of government small business loans to kick start the venture of your interest if you are confident of generating profits in the long run. If you have a small business idea ticking in your head, your best bet would be to look for government aid.

The scenario of government loans for aiding small businesses coast to coast is very bright. According to data available from the IRS and the SBA or Small Business Administration, nearly 26 million or more small businesses were in operation during 2002 and they helped create 75 percent of new jobs in the past few years. Small businesses are integral to the growth of the US economy and to facilitate more of them, loans for startups have been made more liberal.

Government small business loans are surging on the back of increased demand from first time as well as small entrepreneurs because they are unable to secure finances from traditional sources. After the economic blowback, traditional lending sources like banks and venture capital fund managers are wary of parking their money. It is getting increasingly difficult for them to get money other than loans provided on easy terms by the government.

SBA is doing great service

Government small business loans are being handled by the Small Business Administration for decades and they have been doing great service to the American economy. It was in the year 2003 that the SBA announced an enhanced package for small businesses by hiking loan availability by $1.4 billion.

Over the past 50 years since SBA has been doing yeomen service to US small businesses, they have pumped in over $30 billion into more than 20 million businesses coast to coast. And they are flexible since you can get ready funds sanctioned within weeks if you are in dire need of money to start up soon or require immediate capital inflow to maintain operations.

The government small business loans are not one-size-fits-all type as they can vary from as little as less than $50,000 and can also be over $3 million depending on the requirement of startups. Your best bet would be to get a survey done about your business plans which you can weigh against comparative analysis for similar companies.
